The Old Character

A touch of molasses sets this higher-proofed grandson to the classic and timeless Old Fashioned apart.
Ingredients
  • 2 oz Kentucky Grit Corn Whiskey Aged 6 Months
  • ½ oz Sorghum Molasses
  • 2-3 dashes Aromatic Bitters
  • Cocktail Cherry & Orange Twist (for garnish)
Instructions
  1. Add Whiskey, Molasses, and Bitters to an ice-filled cocktail shaker.
  2. Cap the tin and shake vigorously until frost begins to form on the outside, about 15 seconds.
  3. Strain over a large ice sphere or cube into a chilled rocks glass. (Standard ice works just as well.)
  4. Gently twist an orange peel over glass to express oil, then place in glass.
  5. Garnish with cocktail cherry and serve.

Variation: Substitute Brown Sugar Syrup* for the Molasses.
